LASEV Partner Receives Distinguished Award

The National Legal Aid and Defender’s Association has awarded Stanley (Stan) Brown the Arthur von Briesen Award for the 2023 annual conference. The Arthur von Briesen Award honors a private attorney who has made substantial volunteer contributions in support of the delivery of civil legal aid or indigent defense representation. Joined by Sarah Black, LASEV Deputy Director, as co-counsel and Tom Silverstein of the Lawyers’ Committee, Brown brought a fair housing lawsuit in federal court in Virginia against the City of Norfolk and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
