In these situations, a second mortgage is sold cheaply to debt collectors, who attempt to collect on the loan after many years of failing to provide statements to the homeowner.
Mr. Ballard represented a family in Virginia Beach who not only did not receive regular monthly statements, but were completely unaware of the zombie mortgage until their home was threatened.
