Taequan Kates, Esquire is the Managing Attorney for the Disability Rights Unit and Homeless Outreach Project at the Legal Aid Society of Eastern Virginia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Economics, and Philosophy from Emory & Henry University and his Juris Doctor from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
Taequan has been practicing law for six years, with experience in a wide range of civil matters, including Education Law, Landlord/Tenant disputes, Social Security, Estate Planning, Consumer Law, and Family Law. He is passionate about representing individuals who may not have the resources to afford legal representation and is committed to advocating for justice and equity within the legal system.
Outside the courtroom, he enjoys spending time with his spouse along with their family and friends. He also prioritizes health and wellness and enjoys working out in his free time. His mission is simple: to be a voice for the voiceless and fight for justice on behalf of those in need.
