Meet Jane* – a resilient disabled mother who overcame tremendous challenges to reunite with her son. When Jane contacted LASEV, she was living in an assisted living facility while her son remained in the care of relatives. When he was later placed in foster care, Jane faced an uphill battle to regain custody.
Thanks to the dedication of our team at LASEV, Jane’s journey took a turn for the better. Our Norfolk Community Advocate fought tirelessly to secure affordable housing for Jane, while one of our Southside staff attorneys provided critical legal representation in her CPS case.
With safe housing in place, our attorney was able to advocate for a trial home placement – ultimately leading to a final order granting Jane sole legal and physical custody of her son.
